Questions

Question: What is the Trinity?

Answer: The Trinity is what Christians believe God is like. Even the best theologians can find is confusing, but essentially, it is the idea that there is One God who exists in three persons - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. All 3 are equal with each other and have always existed. All 3 are divine in essence, but distinct in person.

God the Father is the Creator of the universe and His relationship with us is as a father to his children.

God the Son (Jesus) is the Saviour of mankind - He paid the price on the cross for the wrongs of humanity and gave them eternal life and freedom from sin and guilt.

God the Holy Spirit is present in every Christian - He helps us discern right from wrong and empowers us to live our lives as best we can.

Question: Who is Jesus?

Answer: Jesus was the Son of God. He is the Son of God the Father, and He is also God (see What is the Trinity for an explanation about the 3 Persons of God)

About 2000 years ago, He was born of a Virgin in a small town called Bethlehem, grew up and worked as a carpenter, and around the age of 30, started teaching. After 3 years, He was arrested and was executed. 3 days after His execution, He came back from the dead and appeared on numerous occasions to his followers and friends before being taken up into Heaven.

What's more is that He is still alive today. He still makes a difference in people's lives in the 21st century. If a person truly believes in their heart that Jesus is the Son of God and asks Him for forgiveness, they are declared righteous in God's eyes and live a new life in freedom.
